The Altitude 22 association, based in Dinan, offers first-time hot-air balloon flights over the Rance Valley. Rather than following a fixed tourist route, the idea is to rediscover Dinan and the surrounding countryside, estuary and villages as the wind carries you.
How does the association work?
Altitude 22 is an association affiliated with the French Aerostation Federation. It holds an air transport certificate and a public passenger transport licence, operating with a more community-oriented approach than a conventional commercial company.
Weekday or weekend: which ticket should you choose?
Two ticket types are offered: a weekday ticket, valid from Monday morning through Friday morning, and a Billet Avantage for flights from Monday morning through Sunday evening. Prices were not clearly published on the official pages consulted, so check directly when booking.
Where exactly will you fly?
The main flight area is Dinan and the Rance Valley. Depending on the wind, the scenery may include Brittany's hedgerow countryside, the bends of the Rance, villages and the gradual opening towards the estuary. A specific flight over Dinan or the coast cannot be promised.
Before booking
As with all free-flying balloons, dates and launch sites depend on the weather. Altitude 22 prefers direct contact: the association's office is at 9 rue Gagon, Dinan, and bookings are made by telephone or email.
The extra touch
Its local, community-based character is the key difference. Rather than running a large tourism operation, members share their passion for ballooning in an area they know well.
