Just 500 metres from the beach, in Parc Malo, the Aquarium de Dunkerque offers a chance to discover aquatic wildlife without spending an entire day indoors. Freshwater tanks feature piranhas and turtles; tropical sections house clownfish and surgeonfish, while the North Sea aquariums show species from the Flemish coast, including the small-spotted catshark.
What will children see?
Around 30 freshwater species and 120 marine species are displayed, along with a shell collection. The manageable size of this municipal aquarium makes it ideal for a first family visit, before or after a walk around Malo-les-Bains.
What are the 2026 prices?
Standard admission costs €3.50, with a €2 reduced rate. Entry is free for children under 12 and for everyone on Sundays, according to the conditions published by Dunkerque Tourisme. The aquarium is normally closed on Mondays.
Before you visit
The Aquarium de Dunkerque is at 45 avenue du Casino. In strong winds, the closure of Parc Malo may also mean the aquarium closes: check the day's opening conditions and hours, particularly in the colder months. Opening times differ between summer and winter.
