On the GR®765, Marols can be discovered both as a medieval village and as an artists’ village. Around the fortified church, painters, sculptors, visual artists, photographers and craftspeople welcome visitors into their workshops.
A walk from one creator to another
In Marols, the workshops are scattered through the narrow streets: this is not a single gallery, but a walk punctuated by encounters with artists. Painting, collage, sculpture, jewellery and woodwork can be discovered in the very places where they are created. Visitors enter active workshops, whose doors are not necessarily open at the same time.
An artistic stop on the Way of St James
The GR®765 crosses the village before continuing towards Montarcher. This stop combines medieval heritage and contemporary art, with a walk through the narrow streets around the fortified church.
When can you meet the artists?
The ArtGaïa collective brings together artists who live and work in Marols. Visits can take place throughout the year on request, but opening depends on the artists, their exhibitions and their travels. To meet a particular creator, it is best to arrange a visit. The village also hosts collective events, such as the autumn creators’ market.
