In Plomodiern, in the Bay of Douarnenez, Char à Voile du Bout du Monde operates on Lestrevet/Pentrez beach, a long stretch of firm sand suited to wind sports. The school is run by Jérôme, a former medal-winning competitor, and stays open all year. The land-yachting school has two locations! Lestrevet, of course, the land-yachting capital :-p but also Kersiguénou/Goulien beach on the Crozon peninsula!
Which session should you choose?
The introductory format offers 1 hour of practice; children can steer alone from age 8 or ride in a two-seater from age 5. Longer sessions may be offered for those wanting to progress; with us, it's à la carte!
The location
Between 1 July and 31 August 2026, the school uses a driving area of approximately 400 m in the middle of Lestrevet/Pentrez beach. A flag in the dunes serves as a marker and the school's yachts are blue, which is useful because another operator also works in the area...
What to know before visiting
In summer, participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their session directly on the beach: there is no need to go to the reception building first. Parking is available along the dune or at the Lestrevet car park; from the latter, allow about 10 minutes to walk to the driving area.
When to visit?
We are open all year, but the way the location operates varies with the season, wind, tides and state of the sand. Summer slots are particularly structured and booking is preferable; out of season, a text message is enough to reserve a time.
An extra detail
A qualified, enthusiastic instructor with over 30 years' experience! That's what will make the difference during your outing ;-) You will drive overlooking the Bay of Douarnenez, at the foot of Ménez Hom and the entrance to the Crozon peninsula. The school holds quality labels and partners with regional organisations such as Tout commence en Finistère and Marque Bretagne, reflecting the standard of teaching and local connections.
