In Fromentine / La Barre-de-Monts, the École Municipale de Char à Voile operates on Grande Côte beach. The activity is available year-round but only at low tide, with 90-minute sessions supervised by a French Land Yachting School affiliated with the FFCV.
Which session should you choose?
In 2026, an individual session costs €39 for groups of 1 to 3, €35 each for groups of 4 to 7 and €32 each for 8 or more participants. A two-seater land yacht is available for €60 per vehicle. Meet 15 minutes before the start; helmets and disposable helmet liners are provided.
With children
Solo land yachting is accessible from age 8. Beyond a first experience, the school offers courses of three sessions or five sessions, helping participants progress technically and gain independence.
What to know before visiting
Times change with low tide and booking is compulsory. Bring closed-toe shoes, sunglasses and work or sailing gloves. The activity still depends on wind and sand conditions despite the year-round programme.
For groups
Prices decrease from four people upwards and the school also welcomes school groups, holiday camps and organised outings. The format works for families and established groups alike.
