In Bordeaux, La Planche is a shared workshop entirely dedicated to wood. Its classes and courses introduce carpentry, cabinetmaking and woodturning, with formats suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.
Make your first piece of furniture
The 'first piece of furniture' course takes place over two days. Guided by a craftsperson, participants follow the different stages of making a wooden item and take their creation home. A one-day course also combines woodworking and weaving to make a stool.
Understand joints
Other courses explore traditional joints and the use of hand tools in greater depth. Exercises may cover mortise-and-tenon joints, dovetails, marking out, sawing or chisel work. A shorter introduction allows you to try the material and techniques before committing to an intensive course.
Several ways to progress
Those wishing to practise regularly can follow a course over several sessions or use the shared workshop under the venue's conditions. This variety sets La Planche apart from a one-off workshop: you can discover woodworking, make a piece of furniture and then continue improving through your own projects.
