At Balcon de Villard, Mountain Karting lets visitors descend the Villard-de-Lans slopes in a non-motorised off-road kart. Two trails provide almost 9 km of combined downhill riding and roughly 500 m of vertical drop, through alpine meadows, woodland and views of the Vercors.
How does the descent work?
The Côte 2000 gondola takes participants to the start. After a safety briefing, each person steers their own kart and controls speed with the brakes. An accessible route and a more demanding trail cater to different ability levels, provided riders always control their speed and respect other users.
Before you visit
Helmets are compulsory and may be provided. Goggles or glasses, trousers and long sleeves are recommended. Tickets are sold only at ticket desks or on-site machines; booking is not possible. If you buy multiple descents, immediate back-to-back rides are not guaranteed.
2026 information
The activity is advertised daily from 09:00 to 17:00, with departures depending on visitor numbers. One descent costs €21, while groups of more than 20 people must contact the resort.
The combined length of the two trails is the main attraction: there's enough ground to vary your pace and lines as you follow the mountain terrain.
