On the banks of the Sélune, Château des Montgommery tells the story of an influential Norman Protestant family. Built in the early 17th century by Gabriel II de Montgommery, it still has decorative features that convey the refinement of its former apartments.
Architectural details to look for
The château combines brick, granite and limestone. Inside, painted ceilings, sculpted fireplaces and a monumental staircase make the visit particularly worthwhile. Only part of the building survives: the original complex was larger.
A historical investigation
The interactive Ducey Code trail lets families and heritage enthusiasts explore the owners' history through a puzzle-solving game.
The château is on rue du Général-Leclerc in Ducey-les-Chéris and opens for visits seasonally.
