The Slab is the restaurant inside GONG Space Center in Saint-Nazaire, a large venue dedicated to surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kitesurfing and wingfoiling. Its dining area sits in the heart of a shop of more than 1,000 m², right beside the brand's shaping workshop, research-and-development area and technical facilities.
Hundreds of boards surrounding the tables
Here, the world of watersports isn't merely a decorative theme: it forms the restaurant's real surroundings. Tables are framed by boards, raw materials and tropical plants, with swings at the counter and a terrace among palm trees and reeds.
The place welcomes enthusiasts and curious visitors alike: you don't need to surf or foil to have lunch.
Food inspired by surf trips and the Atlantic coast
The menu blends local ingredients with inspiration from travels around the world. Chef Fred Ardouin, formerly a restaurateur on the Guérande peninsula and a watersports enthusiast himself, works with fresh, local, seasonal produce.
Depending on the season, dishes may include:
- sea bream ceviche;
- poke bowls;
- burgers and homemade fries;
- recipes inspired by travel and the La Baule region.
The restaurant has no freezer and prioritises freshly prepared food. It also follows an Ocean Friendly approach.
