In La Faute-sur-Mer, the municipal land-yachting centre operates from Plage des Bélugas, at 2 boulevard de la Forêt. There are more than 12 km of beach and the centre runs throughout the year, but sessions are scheduled around low tides and the wind.
Which session should you choose?
The centre offers introductory and progression sessions to learn how to set the sail, set off, turn and control speed. Its fleet includes 20 MC2 single-seater land yachts and a broad selection of sails to suit different wind strengths.
The three-hour excursion
The most distinctive package is the three-hour excursion, available to beginners from age 12. The goal is to reach Pointe d’Arçay, at the southern end of the peninsula, accompanied by an instructor on a quad who adjusts the teaching throughout the route.
What to know before visiting
Bookings are accepted only by telephone or email. Although the centre advertises year-round opening, some periods have no sessions because equipment is being maintained, and times change with the tides. Always confirm the slot before travelling.
For groups
The centre welcomes families, friends, schools, holiday camps and works councils. Its membership of the French Land Yachting Federation and its manager's experience of watersports instruction make it more structured than a simple beach-hire business.
