GTR Mountain operates a natural ice circuit in Chamrousse for learning and improving skills. The track has two layouts, known as ‘plain’ and ‘mountain’, extending for more than 800 metres and measuring 6 to 10 metres wide. The site is illuminated, also allowing sessions when daylight fades.
What courses are available?
The offer includes a 2-hour introduction and 2-hour 30-minute courses organised in two levels. A package combines levels 1 and 2. The aim is not merely to make the car slide: specialist instructors teach fundamentals useful in everyday driving when grip becomes poor.
How much should you budget?
In 2026, the GTR Mountain shop lists guide prices of €175 for the 2-hour introduction, €215 for each 2-hour 30-minute course and €400 for the levels 1 + 2 package. These vouchers are currently marked as temporarily disabled, so check that bookings have reopened before travelling.
Good to know before you visit
A category B driving licence or accompanied driving is accepted. The track directly depends on temperatures and natural ice formation; GTR Mountain asks guests to confirm conditions before the activity. The meeting point for the ice-driving school is at 700 rue des Brokentins in Chamrousse.
What distinguishes this address is progression through two levels on a genuine natural mountain circuit, with an approach focused as much on vehicle control as the enjoyment of sliding.
