In Fort-Mahon-Plage, Éolia is a long-established land-sailing school in Baie de Somme, founded in 1985. Sessions start from the Fort-Mahon base and use up to 20 km of beach between Baie de Somme and Baie d'Authie, with times set according to the tides.
Which session should you choose?
For children aged 7 to 10, Éolia offers a 'kids' format lasting around 2 hours. From age 11, the introductory session and tour generally lasts 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours: learning the controls on a marked course, followed by a trip if conditions allow participants to leave the learning area.
Good to know before you visit
Waterproof trousers and a jacket are supplied in addition to the activity equipment. Sessions are offered all year round but remain entirely dependent on the tide, wind and condition of the beach; the booking schedule therefore directly displays the time slots when sailing is actually possible.
The spot
Fort-Mahon-Plage is Éolia's main base. The organisation also has a separate chalet at Quend-Plage, providing two departure points on the same immense intertidal area: these two bases should not be confused with Ozone or Éole Zone, other independent schools in the area.
For groups
Éolia welcomes school groups, residential seaside classes, companies and seminars. Through its partners, the organisation can combine land sailing with meeting, catering or accommodation services, making it a major provider for groups in Baie de Somme.
