Between Val-de-Marne and Seine-et-Marne, the state-owned Forêt de Notre-Dame covers more than 2,000 hectares. Together with the forests of La Grange and Grosbois, it forms the Arc Boisé, a large natural area near Paris, accessible notably from La Queue-en-Brie.
A forest for walking or cycling
Its long avenues, smaller woodland trails and clearings allow visitors to choose walks of different lengths. Oak trees are characteristic of the landscape and the ground can be damp; after heavy rain, some paths become muddy. Routes can be chosen to suit available time and walkers' abilities.
What to know before visiting
Access and some activities may be restricted during periods of fire risk, forestry work or habitat protection. Consult guidance from the Office national des forêts and stay on authorised paths wherever signs require it. Notre-Dame offers extensive woodland on the edge of the city, ideal for a nature walk without a mountain journey.
