At Haras du Buot, in Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes, horse rides have one clear characteristic: all rides take place on the beach. The horses are chosen and trained for coastal terrain, and groups are formed as far as possible according to riders' ability.
Can beginners take part?
Yes. For a first experience or if a rider is apprehensive, the teaching team can accompany them on foot and lead the horse if necessary. The stud farm thus adapts the outing to actual ability rather than imposing the same pace on the whole group.
Can you gallop on the beach?
Galloping outdoors requires sufficient riding ability: you need to be able to control all three gaits. Haras du Buot advises riders who do not yet have this independence to take a few hours of lessons before aiming for a more demanding ride.
A little extra
The tide really changes the experience: when conditions allow, horses can walk through the water. The stud farm is open all year round, with times that may vary by season; bookings and enquiries are handled directly by the team.
