An enchanted forest… in a shopping centre
Wonderwoods by Ephemera – Angers is in Beaucouzé, in the Atoll shopping centre, around ten minutes from central Angers. This contrast is precisely what surprises: behind a retail-park façade, visitors step into a fantasy forest made of 4K projections, enveloping sounds, staged vegetation, luminescent mushrooms and magical creatures. Ephemera states that the sets were made to measure by a former film-set decorator.
This is therefore not simply a 'themed' restaurant. The staging accompanies the whole meal and changes the perception of the dining room as the lighting and animations evolve.
The theme continues onto the plate
The 2026 menu is homemade from fresh produce, with several vegetarian options. The immersive menu is displayed at €42 for a starter, main course and dessert, or €49 with a cocktail; a pairing of two glasses of wine can be added for €12.
The signature menu genuinely plays with the forest theme:
- Rustic pie with mushrooms, truffle ham and burrata;
- Duck breast in a nest with tempura mushrooms;
- Praliné des Bois, a trompe-l'œil dessert made of small praline-mousse mushrooms, almond crumble and roasted apples.
À la carte dishes generally range from €14.50 to €23. The children's menu, for ages up to 10, is advertised at €11.50, including a drink, main course and dessert.
Saturday works slightly differently from other days
Wonderwoods Angers normally opens for lunch and dinner. On Saturdays, the restaurant stays open continuously from 12:00 to 22:30, but switches to a reduced menu in the afternoon: a selection of starters and main courses remains available, together with all desserts. This is useful when planning a later outing after shopping or a session at the Atoll.
Good to know before booking
- The restaurant accepts customers with or without a reservation, but online booking remains preferable at busy times.
- Free parking directly at the Atoll.
- On weekdays, the Beaucouzé - L'Atoll stop is served by bus E20; on Saturdays, the stated stop is Le Corbusier.
- The venue is accessible to people with reduced mobility and high chairs are available.
- Meal vouchers are accepted, but not paper vouchers or chèques-vacances.
- For groups of more than 16 people, Ephemera asks customers to contact its groups/private-hire service.
Birthdays: two small details that are easy to miss
For a birthday, the team adds a candle to the dessert. You may also bring your own cake, but a €5 fee per slice applies. Another curiosity on the menu: you can discreetly order an individual rose for €6 from the server, described as 'the Chef's special gesture', while stocks last.
Why is this restaurant unusual?
The décor alone could quickly become a gimmick. Here, the appeal comes from the fact that the visual, sound and culinary worlds are consistent: projections and staging create the immersion, while the dishes echo the forest theme in their names and presentation. For anyone searching for an unusual restaurant in Angers, a family outing or an original dinner near Beaucouzé, Wonderwoods is one of the area's most immediately transporting experiences.
