In the Lesponne Valley, the “Entre cascade et torrent” walk follows the Adour before reaching the Magenta waterfall, a three-tiered cascade set in a beech wood. The route alternates between meadows, woodland, old stone walls, footbridges and small streams.
How difficult is the walk?
The official route is graded easy. It forms an 8.7 km loop, taking around 3 hours' walking with 252 m of ascent. The path crosses the D29 before climbing towards the waterfall, then returns to Lesponne through forest and meadows.
Where is the most memorable section?
Magenta waterfall appears after crossing the stream and a short climb. Its shady setting makes it a popular summer stop for a break or picnic before completing the loop.
What to know before setting off
The walk starts in Lesponne. Download the GPX route or map beforehand: mobile coverage can be patchy in the valleys. Shoes with good grip are recommended, especially when the forest sections are damp.
An extra detail: this walk explores the valley without tackling the more demanding high-altitude routes to Lac Bleu or Montaigu.
