In Cagnes-sur-Mer, the La Côte d’Azur des Peintres trail connects Haut-de-Cagnes with Domaine Renoir through 14 information displays: 12 in the medieval village and two around the estate. The reproductions are displayed outdoors, at the very spots where the artists set up their easels.
Which painters are featured?
The trail includes Renoir, Soutine, Derain, Vallotton and Johnson, among others. Views of the lanes, castle, hills and Mediterranean make it possible to compare paintings directly with today's landscape.
How should you plan the walk?
Haut-de-Cagnes contains most of the route, with 12 displays around the historic village. The other two are at Domaine Renoir: it is therefore better to treat the visit as two stages rather than look for a continuous walking loop between the areas.
What to know before visiting
The displays are freely accessible all year round in 2026. Haut-de-Cagnes has steep, cobbled streets and steps, so walking conditions are more variable than on a seafront promenade.
An extra highlight
Starting around Château-Musée Grimaldi and finishing at Domaine Renoir takes visitors from an area shared by many painters to the home of a single master. The contrast makes Cagnes-sur-Mer's artistic richness particularly clear.
