In Plouescat, land yachting takes place separately from the water sports at Porsguen: it is based at Kernic Bay, a broad sandy area used for lessons, courses and introductory rides. This is where you should go for land yachting, rather than the port where water activities are concentrated.
Which session should you choose?
In 2026, the single-seater introductory session lasts 1 hour, is available from age 8 and costs €26 per person. To progress further, the centre offers a three-half-day course in July and August for €115, with sessions lasting around 2 hours that may be moved if the wind is too light or too strong.
With children
For under-8s, the centre offers a 15-minute tandem introductory ride, driven by an instructor, costing €16 per child. A tandem land yacht can also be used for a 1-hour session with an adult and a child under 8.
What to know before visiting
Closed shoes or water shoes are compulsory, and the centre recommends a windproof jacket, glasses and a change of clothes. Safety equipment and helmets are supplied. An introductory session is required before certain types of independent hire.
For groups
The Centre Nautique Municipal also advertises a 2-hour works council session and welcomes school and other groups. Instructors hold federation-recognised qualifications and the organisation is affiliated with the Fédération Française de Char à Voile.
