In Tréflez, the Keremma dunes and Goulven Bay form a vast protected landscape of sand, beaches and dune habitats. Starting at the Maison des Dunes, the GR34 trail crosses this Natura 2000 area and leads to several viewpoints independently of the building's opening times.
What will you find along the trail?
Between Maison des Dunes and the sea wall, four interpretation stations line the GR34. They explain landscape change, dune dynamics and local natural habitats. The trail remains freely accessible even when Maison des Dunes is closed.
Why do naturalists love Keremma?
The site includes beaches, tidal flats, mobile and fixed dunes, and inland dune habitats. 21 orchid species have been recorded here. Goulven Bay and the dunes also support abundant birdlife, especially in winter, including plovers, sandpipers and other coastal birds.
Maison des Dunes or the free-access trail?
Maison des Dunes welcomes visitors according to a seasonal calendar separate from the GR34's free access. It provides information before setting off and explains the site's history, including 19th-century efforts to stabilise part of the dune system.
The extra touch
Keremma changes dramatically with the tides. At low tide, the beaches extend far towards the horizon; at higher water levels, the trail lets you appreciate the different layers of the dune landscape while staying near the coast.
