In Wimereux, École de Surf du Nord helps beginners learn and more experienced surfers improve on the Opal Coast's waves. Lessons are led by a state-qualified instructor and adapted to sea conditions on the day.
Lessons with equipment included
Group lessons last around 90 minutes and are open from age six. Wetsuit, board and insurance are included. After a safety briefing, the instructor adapts advice to each participant's ability, focusing on getting into the water, balance and choosing waves.
Several spots along the Opal Coast
The school operates in Wimereux, Équihen-Plage and Wissant. The venue and timing depend on weather and tides to ensure suitable conditions. Surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, bodyboarding, skimboarding and coastal water walking may be offered.
2026 information
The season runs from 1 April to mid-November, daily including public holidays. A group lesson costs €40; multi-session packages and private lessons are available. Just bring swimwear and a towel.
The choice of three locations allows École de Surf du Nord to adapt each lesson to conditions along the Opal Coast.
