Jardin des Plantes d’Avranches is notable both for its plant collections and for its viewpoint over Mont-Saint-Michel Bay. Near place Carnot, it overlooks a landscape that inspired 19th-century writers.
Twelve gardens to explore
The restoration begun in 2005 created 12 landscaped areas, where camellias, rhododendrons, maples, flowering cherries and collections of fruit trees invite visitors to wander through different settings. Interpretation panels help visitors learn about the plants.
An extra detail worth knowing
The panorama takes in the bay and the Mont. The tourist office also lists children's play facilities, areas for socialising and paths accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Entry to the garden is free; the weather affects visibility from the viewpoint.
