In Cazes-Mondenard, the Musée du Corbillard et de l'Attelage brings together an improbable yet fascinating collection of more than 150 hearses from the 18th to 20th centuries, plus dozens of other horse-drawn vehicles and related objects.
Built around Yvan Quercy's collection, the museum illustrates how funeral customs, carriage designs and decorative styles changed over time. Some vehicles are remarkably restrained; others are far more theatrical. The sheer accumulation of such unusual vehicles makes this visit exceptional.
