Facing the islands of Hyères, Domaine du Rayol offers a guided snorkelling excursion in baie du Figuier, within the protected marine area of the Maures coast. Exploration starts from the beach, using fins, mask, snorkel and wetsuit, accompanied by a state-qualified guide.
How long does the underwater trail last?
In 2026, the activity lasts around 2 hours, including 45 minutes in the water. The level is described as easy and beginners are welcome, provided they can swim. All equipment is supplied, and you can also bring your own.
What can you observe?
Depending on encounters on the day, the bay's shallow waters may reveal Posidonia seagrass beds, rainbow wrasse, combers, wrasses, starfish, sea bream, octopuses or anemones. The point is as much to learn to recognise marine habitats as simply to “see fish”.
When can you take part in 2026?
Trips are scheduled from 18 June to 13 September 2026, with several daily time slots in July and August. Sessions in July and August are mainly offered in French and English.
What to know before visiting
Arrive approximately 15 minutes before departure. Entry to the Jardin des Méditerranées is included with the activity, allowing you to combine land-based discovery and marine exploration on the same site.
The added attraction
It is one of the area's few underwater trails combining nature-focused guidance, equipment provided and access to a large landscaped garden: a genuine “land and sea” day rather than just a snorkelling session.
