In Bagnols-en-Forêt, a shaded walk leads to the Cascade de Gourbachin, nicknamed Gour Bachin, in a valley crossed by the Vauloube. Water falls from a rock ledge several metres high into a pool surrounded by vegetation. It is a short, pleasant nature outing, especially in spring or after moderate rainfall when the stream is flowing again.
What will you discover along the way?
From the road to Le Muy, the path follows the little stream, crossing the Vauloube several times. The tourist office rates the walk as easy and gives approximately 2 km and 45 minutes of walking. At the end of the trail, the waterfall drops around six metres amid moss-covered rocks. An old account by L. Henseling, dated 1934, already described this local wonder.
Before you visit
Start near the bridge on the D47, leaving Bagnols-en-Forêt towards Le Muy, in the route du Muy area. The path crosses the stream: good footwear is advisable even though the route is short. The waterfall may be dry in summer, while after a storm or heavy rain, water crossings and rocks become dangerous. Avoid crossing when the current is strong. In summer 2026, check for any prefectural restrictions on access to the Var's forested massifs.
The extra touch: use this walk to explore the red rhyolite landscapes and old millstone quarries of Bagnols-en-Forêt, another little-known part of the village's heritage.
