In Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild combines a Belle Époque palace with nine themed gardens overlooking the Mediterranean. Built between 1907 and 1912 for Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, the residence can be explored along with its art collections, followed by its French formal garden, rose garden, Japanese garden and exotic garden.
What to see
The estate covers approximately 7 hectares. The gardens were designed and altered over the course of the 20th century around the grand French formal axis, while the villa retains a collection of several thousand works of art and objects assembled by Béatrice de Rothschild. The contrast between architecture, collections and peninsula views makes the visit worthwhile.
What to know before visiting
In 2026, the villa and gardens are open daily: from 10:00 to 18:00 until 1 November (until 19:00 in July and August), then from 2 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, from 10:00 to 16:30 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 18:00 at weekends and during school holidays.
