Boucan – La Vie têtue has occupied a former café just a short walk from the Musée de Pont-Aven since 2024. The decor combines an English pub feel with the warmth of a family home, featuring a fire, a book-filled counter and a terrace. The bookshop covers a wide range of subjects, with a particular interest in essays and the humanities.
Can you have lunch here?
Yes. Boucan serves a small selection of organic vegetarian food every day, tea and cakes throughout the day, and brunch on roughly one Sunday each month. The café offering is substantial enough to make it an outing in itself.
What's happening in 2026?
Author talks, workshops, exhibitions, screenings and listening events take place through the year. In spring and summer, the venue is advertised as open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 am to 6:30 pm; in winter it switches to Wednesday to Sunday.
The extra touch
With around 4,000 book titles, a terrace and a committed cultural programme, Boucan is a natural place to extend a cultural visit to Pont-Aven without ending up in an ordinary tourist café.
