The Forêt domaniale de Fausses-Reposes extends over around 630 hectares west of Paris, between Ville-d’Avray, Chaville, Viroflay and Versailles in particular. Classified as a protected forest since 2007, it forms a very hilly woodland marked by a succession of ridges and valleys.
Many paths rather than a single loop
The forest network includes around 69 km of paths accessible to walkers. Several waymarked routes allow outings of different lengths; one official loop from Chaville is around 5.9 km, with 107 m of ascent, and is graded easy.
The ponds at Ville-d’Avray are among the woodland's main landmarks. The forest also welcomes horse riders and cyclists, provided they use routes authorised by the Office National des Forêts.
Forestry work may occasionally alter or close certain paths. In 2026, several operations are planned in the woodland and may affect routes locally.
Fausses-Reposes stands out for its unusual relief for a forest so close to Paris: the outing quickly alternates between valleys, wooded plateaux and urban access points.
