At 7 rue le Grand-Mail in Saint-Péray, near Valence, Pots & Papotes is a ceramic café where you choose an already shaped piece and decorate it with paints, stencils and other tools supplied.
How does a session work?
First choose your piece - mug, bowl, plate, figurine or decorative object - then paint it on site. The team handles glazing and firing before returning it to you.
2026 prices
Workshops start at €25, with prices varying according to the size and complexity of the chosen piece. Discounts are available for adult-child pairs and additional children under 12.
Opening and booking
The official timetable lists workshops Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 to 21:00, Wednesday and Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, plus one Sunday a month for the Ceramic Brunch. The venue is in Saint-Péray in Ardèche, not in Valence itself. For children under 12, a participating adult is required and a family discount may apply.
Café alongside the workshop
Drinks and sweet treats provide a break during the creative session. A Ceramic Brunch is also held on certain Sundays.
For groups
Birthdays, hen parties and team-building events can be arranged on site or as a travelling workshop.
Pots & Papotes stands out for its straightforward format: you do not need to know how to throw or hand-build to create something personal, as the work here focuses on decoration.
