In Antibes, the Jardin botanique de la Villa Thuret is both a scientific site and an acclimatisation garden open to the public. Established from 1857, it brings together plant collections studied by INRAE in a historic setting near cap d’Antibes.
Why visit Jardin Thuret?
A walk here offers the chance to observe numerous exotic species introduced and acclimatised along the Mediterranean coast. The site still operates as an experimental research unit: the collections are therefore not merely decorative but also serve scientific research.
What to know in 2026
Individual visits are self-guided and free. Since March 2026, the garden has opened Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:00, excluding public holidays; group visits are supervised and guided tours require booking.
The garden holds several distinctions, including the Jardin remarquable and Maison des Illustres labels, but its main attraction for visitors today remains botanical and scientific.
