In Lyon's 9th arrondissement, I-WAY offers a simulation area entirely devoted to Formula 1 with 6 networked professional simulators. Each station combines a full-size single-seater, three screens, a surround sound system and a six-axis motion platform.
Up to 2 G simulated
The moving platform reproduces acceleration, braking and load transfers up to a stated 2 G. Before the race, participants receive driving equipment and then attend a briefing. An initial session lets them get to grips with the car and establishes the starting grid before competing against the other drivers.
Actually racing against one another
The six simulators are connected: participants drive on the same virtual track and can overtake one another during the race. Two circuits are offered, including Lyon and Magny-Cours, to be chosen when booking.
A little extra
I-WAY goes beyond a steering wheel facing a screen: the experience recreates an entire Grand Prix sequence, from getting equipped to qualifying and then racing. The same Lyon centre also offers MotoGP and F18 simulations, but the F1 area remains a complete experience in its own right.
