In Lyon, La Beer Fabrique offers two hands-on brewing formats, from a short introductory workshop to a more complete session making a personalised beer. The Lyon workshops are now advertised at 65 rue Trarieux, in the 3rd arrondissement.
Two hours to discover brewing
The Brasseur Amateur format lasts 2 hours and is listed at €70 for 1 person. The group participates in the different stages of making a Pale Ale, learns about the ingredients and the brewer's techniques, and enjoys a tasting of 6 craft beers. Each participant takes home 4 personalised 50 cl bottles.
Four hours to go further
The Maître Brasseur format lasts 4 hours and costs €180 for 2 people. Participants choose from 7 recipes and follow the main stages of a complete brew: selecting ingredients, mashing, sparging, boiling, adding hops, cooling and then starting fermentation.
Good to know before booking
For the Maître Brasseur workshop, the beer needs time to ferment: the website asks participants to return around two weeks after the workshop to collect their beer. This makes the longer format better suited to Lyon-area residents or visitors who can arrange a second trip.
The choice between 2 and 4 hours mainly allows you to tailor the experience: a group introduction and tasting in the first case, a much more complete brewing process and a chosen recipe in the second.
