At 820 metres above sea level on the Route de la Pia in Tende, La Maison de la Pia is a mountain inn created by Camille Burle and Thomas Guernion in a former stone farmhouse in the Roya Valley. Le Fooding named it Best Restaurant 2026, recognising an address where the local landscape is reflected in the food.
Food truly rooted in the valley
Alpine cheeses, mountain vegetables, farm-reared meats, honey and wild plants come from nearby farms and growers. Thomas Guernion, whose experience includes Arpège, creates contemporary regional cuisine, while Camille Burle, a former sommelier, curates a selection of natural wines.
Before you visit
In 2026, weekend lunch is offered as three courses for €35, and dinner as six courses for €65, excluding drinks. La Maison de la Pia is around 4 km from the Italian border and 90 km from Nice: this is a destination restaurant rather than somewhere you simply happen upon.
The extra touch
You can extend the experience by staying in on-site dome accommodation with private bathroom facilities and mountain views. Between a host's table, a mountain inn and a nature stay, La Maison de la Pia offers a genuine reason to travel up into the Roya Valley.
