In Villecroze, Domaine Saint Jean offers a vineyard experience beyond an ordinary cellar tasting: a botanical tasting walk through the estate's garrigue and hills, guided by herbalists, followed by Saint Jean wines.
A walk among plants and vines
The guided route lasts around 2 hours outdoors. It introduces local wild plants, their traditional uses and the estate's biodiversity. Several stops connect this understanding of the landscape with Saint Jean's wines and products.
The experience ends in the cellar with a premium tasting, accompanied by food pairings. The estate says the experience can be privately booked and adapted for a group, company or special event.
Why does the landscape matter here?
The estate cultivates around 15 hectares between the Alps and the Mediterranean, on plots in Côtes de Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Rolle grapes are among those hand-picked at night to preserve their freshness before reaching the winery.
Good to know in 2026
The cellar, situated amid the vineyard, is open daily from 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 18:30. The 2026 programme also combined wine with nature, cyanotype and yoga workshops; past one-off dates are not repeated here.
An extra touch: the botanical walk offers a different way of looking at the garrigue before tasting: the plants, soils and estate practices become part of the wine experience, rather than merely its backdrop.
