At Port du Béal in Cannes, Nature Essentielle organises half-day exploration dives for already-certified divers. Excursions head towards the îles de Lérins, Cannes bay, Estérel and, depending on the programme, Cap d’Antibes, with supervision focused on observing Mediterranean biodiversity.
What underwater environments can you explore around Cannes?
The programme includes walls and gorgonians around the îles de Lérins, the Saint-Ferréol cave, Grand Jardin in Cannes bay and Grande Vaquette in Estérel. Sites are chosen according to conditions and ability, to observe fish, gorgonians, sponges, Posidonia seagrass beds and rocky formations.
Who are the exploration dives for?
Participants must be over 12 and hold at least Level 1 or Open Water certification. The centre also requires either a medical certificate of no contraindication issued within the past year or the relevant medical questionnaire, plus a recent refresher dive if diving is not practised regularly.
How much does an exploration dive cost in 2026?
The option using your own equipment is advertised from €65 in 2026; the tank and weights are supplied. The option including diving equipment, excluding a computer, is advertised from €85. A supplement may apply for dives beyond 40 m.
How does the half-day work?
Trips last approximately 3 hours, with stated departure slots at 09:00, 13:00 and 16:00. Diving groups are deliberately small, with a stated maximum of 4 divers for exploration services.
The added attraction
Nature Essentielle stands out for its strong focus on wildlife, plants and understanding the marine environment: exploration is not just about reaching a dive site, but also learning how to observe life around Lérins and Estérel.
