La Fête du Pain, a journey back in time in Fayence
Every two years, Fayence travels back in time through the Fête du Pain. Residents and shopkeepers dress in period costumes to bring traditional trades, short sketches, music, dancing and craft heritage to life. At the heart of the festival, the Four du Mitan, a restored former communal oven, is relit for traditional bread preparation and baking.
Organised with the association des Amis du Four du Mitan, the event has existed since 2001. The edition on 6 July 2025 featured an old-fashioned market, traditional games and vintage vehicles, as well as a day of festivities in the village.
What to know before visiting
The festival takes place every two years: a new edition is expected in 2027, with no official date published as yet. It is separate from visits to the Four du Mitan, which is accessible independently of the festivities. Check the programme with the organisers before planning your stay.
