In the hilltop village of Mons, the Chapelle Saint-Sébastien, known as the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, has had several lives: first a meeting place for a charitable confraternity, it later had other civic uses, notably connected with the town hall from 1969. Today, the building houses the tourist information office, a shop selling local produce and an art gallery with temporary exhibitions.
A little history
The Pénitents Blancs were one of the lay confraternities that once took part in religious life and mutual aid. The chapel still bears witness to this history while providing access to contemporary local art.
