In Seillans, the history of its lanes and perfume flowers meets that of Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning. The guided village tour introduces the Vicomtesse de Savigny de Moncorps, who developed a perfume-making business, and the artists drawn to this hilltop village, now one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France.
From perfume to Surrealism
Between the Porte Sarrasine, the château and the old church, you discover a story of craftsmanship, architecture and creativity. Maison Waldberg houses works connected with the artists, but admission to its exhibition is a separate visit, and should not be assumed to be included in the village walk.
Practical information
The tourist information office on place du Thouron is a useful landmark before setting off. In 2026, the guided tour is advertised on Thursday mornings by reservation, at €5 per adult (free for minors) with a minimum of four participants. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather. Wear suitable shoes for cobbled lanes and slopes.
