In Seillans, Château des Selves does more than open its tasting cellar: the estate offers a genuine insight into the vineyards through walking and tasting.
Can you walk directly among the vines?
The walk offered by the estate lasts around 4 hours over 6 km. It includes three stops among the plots, each paired with a tasting of wine from the area being crossed. Back at the estate, the experience continues with an introduction to its other products.
This is an interesting way to understand how the terrain, aspect and work in the vineyard are subsequently reflected in the glass, rather than simply tasting several wines in succession at a counter.
A shorter option featuring Provençal produce
By appointment, Château des Selves also organises a workshop of around 1 hour combining tastings and local produce, including Provençal sauces and cheeses. The tasting cellar also welcomes visitors wishing to discover the estate's wines.
Why this place is worth visiting
Combining a vineyard walk with wine tasting, the experience brings together two distinctive aspects of the Pays de Fayence: the landscapes of inland Var and its winemaking heritage. It is a good alternative for visitors who want to experience the Seillans countryside beyond its hilltop village.
