In Tourrettes, behind the façades of the village turned open-air museum, the Musée municipal Baston - Ostoya offers a stop devoted to two artists. Opened between 2020 and 2021, it displays collections donated to the municipality: works by Denis Baston, a ceramicist and sculptor from Fayence, and Thomas Ostoya (1932–2020), painter and sculptor. Paintings, metal and wooden sculptures and reliefs make up this free introduction to local artistic heritage.
Why visit this museum?
It is a particularly interesting complement to a walk along the painted lanes of Tourrettes. Here, local art is no longer discovered solely on village walls: works are preserved in a municipal space, with particular attention to materials, forms and passing on the heritage of Pays de Fayence artists.
How should you plan your visit?
The museum is at 1 place de la Mairie, Tourrettes (83440). In 2026, self-guided visits are advertised Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00. For a Saturday morning visit, contact the town hall to confirm opening. Admission is free. For parking, use the Boudoura or place de l'Horloge car parks.
The extra touch: combine the museum with the Tourrettes heritage walk: first explore artworks scattered through the lanes, then the museum collections to understand how the village became a true living gallery.
