Maison Patrick Waldberg, in Seillans, houses works by Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning, Surrealist artists who lived in the village between 1964 and 1976. A guided visit introduces their lithographs, engravings and prints, alongside paintings by Stan Appenzeller: unexpected collections in a Provençal hilltop village.
The story behind the works
With a guide, discover how these artists drew inspiration from the Pays de Fayence and explore their printmaking techniques. Max Ernst, who chose Seillans for its tranquillity, also left a trace in the streets: a sculpture on Place de la République recalls his time here. The collections offer a close encounter with Surrealism through the artworks themselves.
Planning your visit
In 2026, the office advertises a guided visit on Thursday afternoons by reservation, with at least four registered participants. Indicative adult price: €10 in total, including the €5 admission fee and an additional €5 for the guided tour. Unguided admission (€5 for adults) is a separate option, during the tourist information office's variable opening hours. The exhibition occupies three levels reached by a spiral staircase, without wheelchair access. Check availability with the office before visiting.
Something extra: combine the visit with a walk through Seillans to find traces of the couple and former perfume workshops.
